Where toilets are available, people can enjoy driving in the highways. Public toilets can contribute to improved environmental health. Mental well-being is enhanced when people are out with families and friends and know a place "to go" is available.

This is particularly important for long-distance drivers who spend significant amounts of time ‘behind the wheel.

Rest opportunities: Should be no more than 80 km or one hour drive time apart to be effective, Drive Thru need to be provided before driversbecome tired and are involved in an accident. Due to human nature, fatigue can occur at any time and experience indicates that provision of Drive Thru at roughly one hour intervals provides sufficient opportunities for motorists of all types an opportunity to stop and rest as andwhen they require. The NH 66 is a large & busy network servicing of India. To ensure all motorists have adequate rest opportunities, regardless of their origins or destinations, it is important that locations where they can pull off the main roadway into a relatively quiet andsafe parking area are provided at regular intervals of approximately one hour’s travel time. On average, and usual road conditions, theavailability of rest opportunities at a preferred distance of 80 km apart meets the needs motorists providing for a drive time of approximately 1 hour between each rest opportunity.
